MediSero+ for Orthopaedics

Imaging plus function.
In one chart.

Orthopaedics lives between an X-ray and a movement plan. MediSero+ embeds the DICOM viewer in the visit screen, captures ROM and pain as structured numbers, and pre-builds the post-op cadence for TKR, THR, ACL, and fracture follow-up.

What's tuned for orthopaedics

Six places orthopaedics gets specific.

Universal core (voice notes, Rx, queue, billing, patient app) plus the six items below — all auto-loaded the moment you tag your specialty as Orthopaedics.

Inline DICOM viewer
X-ray / MRI / CT loads inside the chart. Window/level, zoom, measure (length, angle, Cobb). Side-by-side with prior studies for fracture-healing and joint-space comparison.
Structured ROM + pain fields
Per-joint flex / ext / abd / add / int / ext rotation captured as numbers, not free text. VAS pain score per visit. Trend charts over time, no manual graphing.
Post-op protocols
TKR, THR, ACL recon, rotator cuff, fracture follow-up — pre-built cadences (week 1, 2, 6, 12, 6 mo, 1 yr) with the right Rx, X-ray cadence, and physio milestone at each visit.
Physio referral packet
One-tap referral to physio with structured snapshot — surgery date, ROM goals, weight-bearing status, precautions. Physio sees the same chart, logs sessions back in.
DVT / VTE prophylaxis
Risk-stratifies post-op patients (Caprini score), suggests prophylaxis (LMWH / DOAC / mechanical), schedules duration. Auto-flags missed doses.
Clio for ortho
Differential weighting tuned for MSK — knee pain by age + mechanism, low-back red flags (cauda equina, malignancy, infection), shoulder pattern recognition. Surfaces classification scores (Garden, Mason, Schatzker).
Post-op protocols

Six post-op cadences, pre-built.

Each protocol is a chain of follow-ups with the right Rx, X-ray cadence, ROM target, and physio milestone at each step. Tap once at sign-out — the next year of care is staged.

Protocol
Cadence
What's pre-loaded at each visit
Total knee replacement (TKR)
POD 1 → wk 2 → wk 6 → wk 12 → 6 mo → 1 yr
Wound check, ROM target 0–90° by wk 2, 0–120° by wk 6, walk aid stepdown, physio milestones, X-ray at 6wk + 1yr.
Total hip replacement (THR)
POD 1 → wk 2 → wk 6 → wk 12 → 6 mo → 1 yr
Hip precautions x 6wk (no flex > 90°, no add past midline, no IR), ambulation, X-ray at 6wk + 1yr, DVT prophylaxis 2–6 weeks.
ACL reconstruction
POD 1 → wk 2 → wk 6 → wk 12 → 6 mo → 9 mo (return-to-sport)
Brace + crutches, quad activation by wk 2, full ROM by wk 6, jogging by month 3, sport by month 9 with hop-test clearance.
Rotator cuff repair
POD 1 → wk 2 → wk 6 → wk 12 → 6 mo
Sling x 4–6wk, passive ROM only x 6wk, active ROM wk 6–12, strengthening from wk 12, return to overhead by 6 mo.
Distal radius fracture (conservative)
Day 0 → wk 1 → wk 3 → wk 6 → wk 12
Cast 6wk, X-ray at wk 1 (check displacement) + wk 3 + wk 6 (union), physio post-cast for ROM + strength.
Hip fracture (post-fix)
POD 1–7 → wk 2 → wk 6 → wk 12 → 6 mo
Mobilise day 1, weight-bearing as tolerated (TWB / PWB / FWB per surgeon), DVT prophylaxis x 35 days, geriatric co-management, osteoporosis workup.

All cadences default to evidence-based intervals (AAOS, NICE). Override per patient if your protocol differs.

The MSK consult

Imaging open. ROM captured. Plan in seconds.

From the moment the patient sits down to the moment you sign the note — every step is on one screen.

The DICOM-in-chart was the convincer. I used to flip between PACS and the EHR every consult — that's 20+ context switches a day. Now imaging is just there. ROM is just there. The post-op cadence sets itself up. I get half an hour back.

FAQ

Ortho-specific questions, answered.

Can I view DICOM (X-ray, MRI, CT) inside the chart?

Yes — fully inline. Drag in a DICOM file or pull from your PACS via DICOMweb. Window / level, zoom, pan, length, angle, Cobb angle, side-by-side comparison with prior studies. No second app, no cropping screenshots into the chart.

How is range-of-motion captured?

Per-joint structured fields, not free text. Knee → flex / ext / hyperext. Shoulder → fwd flex / abd / IR / ER. Spine → flex / ext / lat-flex / rot. Numbers go straight into the chart and into a trend graph, so you see the recovery curve at a glance.

Do you have post-op protocols?

Yes — pre-built for TKR, THR, ACL recon, rotator cuff, fracture follow-up. Each one is a cadence: post-op day 1 → 2 weeks → 6 weeks → 12 weeks → 6 months → 1 year. At each milestone, the right Rx, the right X-ray, the right ROM target, and the right physio milestone are pre-loaded. Override anything per patient.

How does physio referral work?

One-tap referral. The packet includes surgery date, procedure, weight-bearing status, ROM goals, precautions, and a copy of your op note. If your physio is also on MediSero+, they get a shared chart and log session notes back. If not, they get a structured snapshot via secure link.

Is DVT / VTE prophylaxis built in?

Yes. On any post-op patient the system runs a Caprini score, suggests appropriate prophylaxis (mechanical, LMWH, DOAC, ASA per recent guidelines for THR/TKR), schedules duration (typically 14–35 days post-op), and flags missed doses. You override per patient.

Can patients log home recovery (ROM, pain, walking)?

Yes — the patient app prompts post-op patients to log their daily VAS pain score, their ROM (with a guided how-to-measure), and their walking distance. You see the trend on their next visit, and the system flags concerning patterns (pain spike, ROM regression).
